Bishop Earl Boyea

Bishop Earl Boyea was named the fifth Bishop of Lansing in 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI. Born in Pontiac, Michigan to a Catholic family. He entered Sacred Heart Seminary and High School in 1965 and was Ordained a Priest in 1978. Bishop Boyea received his doctorate in Church history from the Catholic University of America in 1987.

Bishop Boyea currently serves as the Episcopal Moderator of the United States Association of Consecrated Virgins, and on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Catholic Conference.

Within the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, he sits on the Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations.

Bishop Boyea also belongs to the Catholic Biblical Association, Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, and American Catholic Historical Association.
